Testimonials for Karate Class

Here is what our students are saying.

Just finding this website now. At the risk of forgetting humility, I must say that if you want to learn not only the how, but also the why of the martial arts, this school, with a lineage of instructors only 4 generations removed from Funakoshi himself, is the place to do it (Funakoshi, Kotaro, Kim, Mortley). As many have said before me, I have been all over Canada, training for some time, and have yet to find a school like this one, where the pure heart and soul of Okinawan Karate still resides. I have nothing but gratitude for what I learned here and how it shaped me into the man I am today. All that said, reality soon sets in and it is pretty easy to forget all those nice flowery words once we actually step into the dojo and become uke. But that is okay, it is worth the price.

The place to train and have fun!

What an honest and down to earth Sensei at this school. I would recommend you try this school if you are interested in getting a good workout, learning self-defense, learning discipline, and having a fun time while learning. I tried a couple of the free trial classes to see if I liked it and I will be joining next week. See you in the Dojo!

A hidden jem indeed! I’ve done a number of martial arts before (including having been granted a black belt in kenpo kung fu) and this dojo has excellent instructors and a great dojo with lots of room. I’ve seen the good and the bad and this rates top notch with an excellent, varied style with a solid lineage to traditional Okinawan styles. I’m very happy to be training here.

“One of the best things I’ve done in my life so far has been to start training in Karate and now Tai Chi. Everyday is a Karate day for me.”

“Learning Shorinju Ryu Karate has been a very positive experience. It combines the adrenaline rush you get at the gym with the health benefits you get from yoga, while adding real defense techniques that can make the difference in any situation. I have noticed significant improvements to my level of confidence and in my physical ability in a short amount of time. If you want to be able to defend yourself, and get fit in the process, I highly recommend this program.”
